THE VOID AS RAW MATERIAL. Here the project is measured not by its solids but by its voids. Rather than fragmenting the plot into residual gardens hemmed in by asphalt access, eight measured volumes settle freely to release a vast continuous park of almost public character. Between the buildings, true green breathing spaces and differentiated play areas compose a shared landscape, to the benefit of all residents.
AN IN-BETWEEN SCALE. The ensemble seeks the right measure between the single-family house and the large collective. With a ground floor plus two storeys (nine metres at most, the height of a dwelling) and only two to three apartments per level, density remains discreet. This scale meets the aims of the spatial-planning law while preserving the reading of the hillside and the integration into the existing fabric.
RESTRAINT AND BIODIVERSITY. Parking, entirely underground, frees the ground of all superfluous circulation and preserves the scenic quality of the site. Impermeable surfaces are reduced to a minimum, in favour of living soils and generous planting favourable to biodiversity. The flat, planted roofs extend this living ground and contribute to rainwater management. An approach that seeks to reconcile the built and nature, and to imagine a gentler densification of the hillside.
